Notes
Tony Wheal graduated from the No.64 Pilots' Course at RAAF Base Pearce in February 1968 and was posted to No.5 Squadron at RAAF Base Fairbairn. His father was am officer in the RAAF and his parents lived at Garran at the time. After training at Fairbairn, Wheal was posted to No.9 Squadron as a helicopter pilot and served in the Vietnam war from 29 April 1969 to 30 April 1970. Upon his return to Australia he married Christine McAusland of Narrabundah at the Anzac Chapel of St Paul at Duntroon in May 1970. Wheal later served at the RAAF College, Basic Staff School at RAAF Base Fairbairn.
