Notes

Brill lived at Government House in Yarralumla with his parents. He served with the 2/1 Pioneer Battalion, embarking for Morotai in the Netherlands East Indies in May 1945. The 2/1 Pioneers were part of the Borneo invasion force and landed at Balikpapan in July 1945. After the Japanese surrendered he was transferred to the 31/52 Battalion and was sent to Rabaul as part of the garrison. Brill finally returned to Australia in May 1946. He later lived at South Curl Curl in Sydney.
