Notes
Brassey was born in Canberra and his family lived at Acton until it it was acquired by the Commonwealth in 1911. A Geoffrey Brassey is referred to as attending a Dame school at the St. John's Schoolhouse in the early 1900s. In 1915 he was appointed as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery and served with the British Army in France. He returned to Australia after the war and gave his occupation as 'investor' when enlisting for service in World War 2 with the militia forces in Australia, serving with the 2 Army Corps Headquarters with the rank of captain. He later lived in Bowral and died on 13 June 1968.
