Notes
Brack was a veteran of World War 1, including the Gallipoli campaign where he landed on 25 April 1915 as a Sapper with the 1st Divisional Signals. HeĀ rose through the ranksĀ and served on the Western Front with the 47th Battalion (which he briefly commanded) and the 46th Battalion and was awarded the Military Cross. Brack married Frances Downey in October 1919 and he and his family moved to Canberra in 1927. In April 1943 he was appointed as the commanding officer of the local Volunteer Defence Corps. After the war he was Assistant Secretary of the Department of External Affairs until 1951, when he retired, and also served as president and patron of the Canberra Rifle Club. He died on 12 November 1979 at Royal Canberra Hospital and was cremated at Norwood Park.
