Boyce belonged to the Commonwealth Police in Canberra when he was posted to Cyprus with the fifth contingent of Australian police officers to serve as United Nations peacekeepers during 1968 to 1969. He and other police officers going to Cyprus, were sworn in at a ceremony at the Drill Hall in May 1968. During his time in Canberra he served as bailiff at the ACT Court of Petty Sessions in the early 1960s. He died in Canberra on 22 January 2017 aged 88 years and was buried at Woden Cemetery.
