Notes
Bolton joined the 3rd Battalion militia (the Werriwa Regiment) in 1939. A keen model airplane builder it was no surprise when he enlisted in the RAAF in August 1940 where he was mustered as a fitter. He was re-mustered as air crew in April 1943 and left Australia 12 months later bound for the UK travelling via New York. He became a Pilot Officer in April 1944 and a Flying Officer in October 1944, finishing the war at 54 Operational Training Unit, RAF Charter Hall in England. He returned to Australia in November 1945 and worked as a turner/ machinist, living in O'Connor.
