Notes
Belmonte was born and bred in Canberra and left school at age sixteen to join the Australian Army in 1987. He served in the infantry as a Private until 1995 and afterwards went on to become an officer in the Salvation Army. Belmonte ministered in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and became the national staff officer of the Military Christian Fellowship within the ADF, working with chaplains and supporting the welfare and morale of the troops. He was the only chaplain working in the field with fire fighters during the Canberra bush fires of January 2003 and he was awarded the ACT Emergency Medal for his work.
In 2013 he was seconded to the Australian Army as a Philanthropic Officer, Red Shield Defence Services, ADF. During 2016 he served in the Middle East Region, as part of Operation Accordion, with the Headquarters, Joint Task Force 633 as HQ Philanthropic Officer. Operation Accordion began in July 2014 as support to ADF operations in the Middle East with the International Coalition against Terrorism. HQ Joint Task Force 633 operatedĀ from Camp Baird at Al Minhad Air BaseĀ in Dubai. After returning from the Middle East, Belmonte was posted to Robertson Barracks in Darwin.
