Notes
Bell served with the 2/2 Pioneer Battalion in the Ramu Valley and Lae campaigns in New Guinea during 1943, then at Tarakan and Balikpapan in Borneo in 1945. He and his twin brother Bert were killed on 21 December 1946 when their truck crashed near Taralga as they were returning home after their sister Vera's wedding.
