Notes
Bell grew up in Canberra but lived in Sydney when he enlisted in the CMF on 1 September 1942. He joined the AIF two months later and was taken on strength with the 2/25 Battalion in May 1943. He served in New Guinea from July 1943 but was hospitalised with malaria at the end of September 1943. He was evacuated to Australia in February 1944 and discharged as medically unfit on 4 February 1945.
