Belgrove arrived in Vietnam with the 1st Australian Reinforcement Unit on 6 January 1969 before transferring to 4th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment on 18 February 1969. He served with Headquarters, 1st Australian Task Force from 14 May to 8 June 1969 and the rest of his tour with 9RAR. He returned to Australia on 8 September 1969. The AWM image shows Belgrove sandbagging at Nui Dat on 17 February 1969.
The Belgrove family were living at the Causeway in 1951 when Robert's father died.
