Notes

Bedingfield came from Bombala on the Monaro but, by the time of World War 2, was working as a grocer in Canberra and living at the Acton Guest House (Lennox House). He served with the 3rd Battalion (militia) and was mobilised in Canberra on 5 January 1940. He married Gwendoline Phillips in 1941 and attended camps at Glenfield and Wallgrove before embarking for Port Moresby, Papua in May 1942 with the 14th Brigade Headquarters. He served in Papua until early 1943 and was transferred to the 36th Battalion in May. He was sent to New Guinea in July 1943 and then to New Britain in October 1944 where the 36th Battalion was undertaking operations against the Japanese near Rabaul. His tour of New Britain finally ended in June 1945. Bedingfield died in 1974.
